Conwy Arts Trust Awards

Bursting with ideas and creative energy? Planning a new arts project or event which will benefit the community of Conwy? If so you may be eligible for a Conwy Arts Trust award of up to £1,000 to help with the costs.

You can apply for an award if:

  • You are a non-profit making, properly constituted organisation
  • You are planning a new arts project/ event in Conwy County Borough
  • Your project / event will be completed within 12 months of the award being granted
  • Your project/ event will benefit the residents of Conwy County Borough.

You can use this award for:

  • Artists' fees
  • Publicity and marketing
  • Venue hire
  • Materials and equipment
  • Workshops

The award cannot be used towards:

  • The running costs of your organisation (core funding)
  • Projects / events that have already started
  • We will not generally fund projects within schools but may make an exception if the schools element is part of a wider project
  • Events which are held on an annual basis unless there is a new discrete element or where you can give clear indication that our funding would help with the long term sustainability of the event or project

Priority will be given to:

  •  Projects which aim to improve the health and wellbeing of Conwy’s communities
  • Innovative arts projects presenting high quality arts for the benefit of the community in Conwy County Borough
  • Projects which give the community an opportunity to have practical experience of art and interaction with artists

All applications are scored according to strict criteria. Your application MUST demonstrate how it meets these criteria:

Assessment Criteria:

  • Artistic Standard: information about participating artists and details of their previous experience.
  • Benefit to the community of Conwy County Borough: who is this project aimed at e.g. local people, artists etc; how many users will be from Conwy County Borough; will the community gain experience of a new art form?
  • Marketing: how will the project be marketed?
  • Accessibility: is the venue suitable for users with disabilities; is the event bilingual; how will you target your audience/participants, is the project aimed at a specific group or open to all?
  • Partnership Funding: are you contributing from your own and/or other funders?

How much you can apply for:

You can apply for a maximum award of £1,000.

However, it is important to note that funds are extremely limited and applications for lower amounts and where the award represents a small percentage of the overall costs are more likely to succeed. We will look favourably at projects which have already secured match-funding.

What we expect in return:

  • Acknowledgement on all publicity material and press releases
  • An evaluation form including details such as numbers and participants or audience, within six months of completion of the project
  • An invitation to the project/event

Other requirements:

  • A constitution or set of rules
  • Copy of your most recent signed accounts
  • Letters of support for your project / event
  • A written quote or estimate from any supplier of service
